Aerus WCF 200 Water Filter and Softener

Water Refiner

With a combination of both softening resin and activated carbon, the Origins Model WCF200 addresses a number of water quality issues in one device. Through ion exchange, calcium and magnesium is removed creating softened water for the benefit of both you and your homes’ appliances. In addition, the reduction of chlorine, as well as many objectionable taste and odor characteristics are addressed by adsorption with coconut shell-activated carbon. Using proven electronic controls and a robust ceramic disc valve, this hands-free system offers years of maintenance-free operation

FEATURES

  • Fully ported electronic valve affords fully automated, metered functionality Accommodates any type of plumbing Robust ion exchange resin for years of service-free operation Coconut shell activated carbon media eliminates both sediment and taste issues An innovative ceramic core control valve design for smooth, dependable operation

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Electronic control valve with robust ceramic core construction Fully automatic electronic control with metered flow initiation12” x 52” mineral tank, rated to 600 psi; NSF certified1 cu.ft. cation exchange resin, and 1 cu.ft. coconut shell carbon15” x 15” x 35” brine tank holds up to 5 bags of softener salt8 gpm service flow rate and 4.8 gpm drain flow Operating pressure up to 125 psi and temperature range of 34⁰F to 110⁰FIn/Out plumbing up to 1” pipe size

BENEFITS

  • Softened, iron free water from every faucet in your home Eliminates particulate such as sand, rust, and other sediment Reduction of chlorine and objectionable smells from odor causing organics Metered demand controls to reduce operating costs Better tasting water, coffee, tea, and other beverages made from

  • tap water Significant reduction of soap and cleaning products cost

  • How It Works: Dual-Media Technology

    • Ion Exchange Softening (Resin Layer): Water passes through 1 cubic foot of cation exchange resin. This resin attracts and removes calcium, magnesium (the causes of "hard water"), and some iron via ion exchange—swapping them for sodium ions. Result: Truly softened water that prevents scale buildup in pipes, appliances, and fixtures.

    • Activated Carbon Filtration (Carbon Layer): The system also includes 1 cubic foot of coconut shell activated carbon. This adsorbs (traps) chlorine (common in city water for disinfection), organic compounds causing bad tastes/odors, and some sediments/particulates. It improves clarity and flavor without removing beneficial minerals beyond hardness.

    • All-in-One Tank Design: Unlike separate softener + filter systems, the WCF200 typically layers or mixes these media in a single 12” x 52” mineral tank for compact, efficient treatment at the point of entry (whole house).

This combo makes it ideal for homes with moderately hard municipal water—softening protects your plumbing/appliances, while carbon polishing makes water taste better for drinking, cooking, and showering.

    Key Features Explained

    • Fully Ported Electronic Valve with Metered Functionality: The "brain" is an advanced electronic control head with a durable ceramic disc/core valve (more reliable than plastic, resists wear/corrosion). It's metered—measures actual water usage and only regenerates when needed (based on flow and preset hardness levels). Saves salt, water, and money compared to timer-based systems.

    • Robust Media: High-quality resin lasts years (often 10–20 before replacement); coconut shell carbon is premium for effective chlorine/taste reduction and some sediment capture.

    • Hands-Free Operation: Fully automatic—regenerates overnight using brine (salt water) from the separate tank to recharge the resin.

    Specifications Breakdown

    • Tank Sizes: Main mineral tank: 12” diameter x 52” height (NSF-certified, rated to 600 psi). Brine tank: 15” x 15” x 35” (or similar; some listings say 16” x 33”), holds up to 5 bags of salt.

    • Capacity: 1 cu.ft. resin + 1 cu.ft. carbon—suitable for medium to larger households (3–6 people) or moderate hardness.

    • Flow Rates: 8 gallons per minute (gpm) service flow (enough for most homes without pressure drop); 4.8 gpm backwash/drain.

    • Plumbing/Conditions: Handles up to 1” pipe connections; operates at 34°F–110°F and up to 125 psi pressure.

    • Regeneration: Demand-initiated, efficient cycles.
