Tannins Removal water filler Aerus T150

Water Filtration, Problem Water

The T150 is a whole-house tannin removal system designed to eliminate organic tannins from your water supply, delivering clear, colorless water with improved taste and no unpleasant odors. Tannins are natural organic compounds leached from decaying vegetation (leaves, roots, etc.), common in private well water or surface-influenced sources.

What Tannins Do to Your Water

Tannins give water a noticeable:

  • Yellow, brown, or tea-like color → even at low levels (looks like weak iced tea).

  • Slightly bitter or astringent taste → makes drinking water unappealing.

  • Musty or earthy smell → especially when running hot water.

These issues are purely aesthetic (tannins are not harmful to health), but they can stain laundry, fixtures, and dishes, and make everyday water use unpleasant.

Where Tannins Are Common

They’re most prevalent in:

  • Wet, humid regions with abundant organic matter (e.g., Florida, Southeast U.S., Pacific Northwest, New England, parts of the Midwest near swamps/lakes).

  • Homes near lakes, rivers, swamps, peat bogs, or heavily wooded areas.

  • Shallow wells or surface-water influenced supplies.

How the T150 Removes Tannins

It uses a special anion exchange resin (similar to a water softener but targeted at organic acids) or advanced adsorptive media in a large tank. Tannins (negatively charged) bind to the positively charged resin as water passes through. The system automatically regenerates with salt brine (like a softener) to flush out captured tannins and recharge the media.

Features and Benefits:

  • Uses advanced metering technology, making the unit less expensive to operate.

  • A full digital controller with large LCD display is in command through all stages of treatment, adjusting in response to changes in water usage.

  • Calendar override can be set regenerate on specific dates.

  • Components are constructed from materials that withstand corrosion and wear.

  • Removes tannins from water supply.

  • Improves the clarity and taste of drinking water.

  • Reduces odors commonly associated with tannins.

Signs a Tannin Filter is Needed

  • Discolored water

  • Yellow staining on toilet fixtures and laundry

  • Water has an odor
